Portfolio A – Growth FundExpand
The growth-oriented portfolio is focused on total return with an investment time horizon of more than 5 years. The current asset allocation in this portfolio is approximately 75% equity, and 25% fixed income and alternative investments.
Portfolio B – Balanced FundExpand
The balanced portfolio is focused on total return with an investment time horizon of 3 to 5 years. The current asset allocation in this portfolio is approximately 40% equity, and 60% fixed income, alternative investments, and cash and cash equivalents.
Portfolio C – Short Term FundExpand
The short-term fund is focused on liquidity through the preservation of principal with a secondary focus on income with an investment time horizon of less than 2 years. The current asset allocation in this portfolio is approximately 50% fixed income and 50% cash and cash equivalents.
Portfolio D – Preservation of PrincipalExpand
The preservation of the principal portfolio is focused on the provision of liquidity through the preservation of the principal with a time horizon of less than 2 years. The current asset allocation in this portfolio is 100% cash and cash equivalents.
Portfolio E – Growth FundExpand
Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG). The investments in this portfolio will be selected based on the premise that positive environmental, social, and governance factors will lead to outperformance over time. The current asset allocation is approximately 75% equity, and 25% fixed income and alternative investments. The investment time horizon of more than 5 years.

The Jewish Community Foundation of the West (JCFW) is a 501(c)(3) organization that has been assisting organizations and individuals with their philanthropy for over twenty years.
A volunteer board of directors and an Executive Director lead our operations. We offer professionally managed donor-advised funds and endowments through Merrill Lynch Institutional Investment Advisors
A low initial investment to begin a fund. For donor-advised funds, a $1000 investment is required, and for an endowment, $10,000. Funds with balances below $500,000 are charged 1.25%. Fees are decreased as balances grow.

Understanding the JCFW’s Investment Policy
- Establishes the Investment Committee’s expectations, objectives, and guidelines of the 5 Portfolio’s assets.
- Creates the framework for a well-diversified asset mix that can be expected to generate acceptable long-term returns at a level of risk suitable to the Investment Committee.
- Describes an appropriate risk posture for the investment of the Portfolio.
- Specifies the target asset allocation policy.
- Establishes investment guidelines regarding the selection of investment managers, permissible securities, and diversification of assets.
- Specifies the criteria for evaluating the performance of the Portfolio’s assets.
- Defines the responsibilities of the Investment Committee, Institutional Investments Advisors, and Investment Chairman roles.
